Why it WorksDuring hair transplantation, a strip of hair follicles from the donor area, which is the horseshoe-shaped fringe of hair on the lower back and sides of the head, is remove and dissected into as many as 2000 follicular units. These units, which contain from one to four hairs each, are then transplanted into thinning or balding areas. The hair taken from the donor area will continue to grow and not fall out as a result of pattern baldness because this hair is not sensitive to the male hormone DHT. When hair transplantation surgery was first introduced in the 1950's, it was a complicated and costly procedure that often resulted in unnatural results. Through extensive research and state-of-the-art developments in technique and instrumentation, hair transplantation has become a highly sophisticated yet relatively simple procedure. Major advancements in technique, many of which were pioneered by Dr. Dominic Brandy, now offer results that are remarkably natural.
The Brandy System for Surgical Hair RestorationDr. Brandy's exclusive System for Surgical Hair Restoration enables him to harvest the proper type of hair, choose the appropriate graft size and strategically position each graft at the ideal angle for proper hair growth, all of which are crucial in achieving the most natural-looking hairlines. This meticulous, organized approach to hair transplantation helps routinely achieve pleasing aesthetic results. The Brandy System, which was developed after more than ten years of research and experience, enables us to microsurgically transplant under magnification, thousands of tiny growing hairs between existing hair follicles to add fullness and density to thinning areas. The average pre-balding adult has approximately 100,000 hairs growing on approximately 140 square inches of scalp (700 hairs per square inch).
